CEO and Founder
George has spent the last 20 years leading companies building social technologies. Prior ventures provided cross-enterprise team collaboration, a B2B marketplace engine, and wearable technologies for conferences and tradeshows. As the founder and CEO of TurnTo, George has been at the leading edge of social commerce from its beginning. Before George’s forays into social technology, he was a strategy consultant at the Boston Consulting Group and a technology policy analyst for the US Congress. George holds an MBA from the University of Chicago and an AB from Harvard.
Jan has been building advanced web applications for close to 15 years. His experience ranges across advertising, financial services, and publishing industries. Before joining TurnTo, he was a Senior Software Engineer at MyPublisher in New York. Jan’s somewhat eclectic background includes graduate work in Philosophy and Linguistics. He holds a BA from York.
Chief Product Officer
John has been developing products in the emerging social technology space for more than 17 years. His experience ranges from early pre-Web online systems, e-learning and content syndication to modern social games and mobile applications. Swords was most recently co-founder and “Ringleader” at Circus, an award-winning technology firm, where he developed first-of-its-kind social applications for brands such as Cisco Systems, Red Bull, American Express, and Kraft Foods. John is a frequent writer and speaker on topics related to his lifelong obsession with computer mediated communications.
Sven is the VP of Marketing and responsible for the overall leadership and management of TurnTo’s marketing programs, including demand generation, strategic marketing and brand communications. Sven spent the last 17 years in a variety of marketing roles leveraging the digital capabilities of some of the nation’s largest retailers before pivoting to the solutions side of the industry. Prior to joining TurnTo, Sven served as VP of Marketing Strategy at Oracle Data Cloud. Outside of the office Sven enjoys spending time at the beach and international travel.
Lance has spent the last 13 years spearheading revenue growth for a variety of emerging technology and digital marketing businesses. His experience spans e-commerce, mobile development, digital media and social marketing, with a focus on helping retailers and brands stay on the cutting-edge. Before joining TurnTo, Lance was the VP of Sales at Tocata (formerly called Revel Touch) where he brought to market a cutting-edge SaaS platform for developing native iOS applications. Outside the office, Lance’s first passion is music; in earlier days he developed numerous outdoor festivals and was a record producer.
VP, Customer Success
Monica is a results-driven digital marketing Client Services professional with extensive experience building and managing high performing teams and supporting multiple lines of business and Fortune 500 clients. She has extensive international experience as well, and demonstrated success delivering world class client service. Prior to TurnTo, Monica led Client Service teams at TagMan (now Ensighten) O2 Media, and AOL. Monica holds a BA from Wellesley College. Outside of the office Monica reports to a Dachshund and a Yorkshire Terror.
Cindy Smith, CPA
Chief Financial Officer
Cindy brings more than 20 years of finance and operational management experience focused on establishing and growing early stage companies. Cindy has been the CFO for several VC-backed high tech startups since 1999. She has completed multiple financings and, most recently, two M&A transactions with Frictionless (sold to SAP) and Systinet (sold to Mercury Interactive). From 1990-1999, she worked for Pricewaterhouse Coopers, L.L.P. as a Manager in the Global Risk Management Solutions consulting group and as a Business Assurance Manager. Cindy received her MBA degree from Simmons College, Graduate School of Management and her BA from Lawrence University.
